I spent eight fabulous days walking the West Highland Way (Glasgow to Fort William - 95 miles) with Dad, Maggie and Lisa. The weather was generally good to us, it didn't rain all day everyday and we even wore shorts the first day! Lisa and I stayed at budget accomodation (wooden wigwams and Youth Hostels) where possible, leaving Dad and Maggie to relish more luxury in their B&Bs and Hotels! Here are just a few of our photos from the trip...
A very rainy month so far! We've enjoyed an extremely wet day out at Southend-on-Sea and also a brilliant but very damp day at Duxford's 90th Anniversary Airshow! But had a wonderfully sunny and warm day at West Lodge Rural Centre playing in the sandpit and going on the tractor barrel ride, oh and feeding some animals!
This month saw us complete the 26 mile White Peak Challenge Walk in a record 9 hours and 6 minutes! A whole one hour and 40 mins faster than the practise! Ryan spent a fabulous weekend with Grandma and Grandpa and I enjoyed a few glasses of wine with Lorraine in the lovely cottage we rented, complete with log fire! However, not content with completing one challenge in a single month, Marijke and I enjoyed a fabulous day cycling 57 miles from London to Cambridge on the organised ride. The weather was fantastic and we completed the route in 5 hours cycling time, 6 including all our ice-cream and pub stops!
We spent a fantastic week at the caravan in Derbyshire, just the three of us on a little family holiday! We cycled up some big hills (and in the rain), played in several different parks and ate lots of lovely ice-cream! Our relaxing week was made even more wonderful by celebrating Grandpa John's 60th Birthday!
We had a fantastic trip to Munich, staying with Marta, Moritz and Nicolo in their lovely house! The weather was warm and sunny, Ryan and Nicolo played brilliantly together and we all enjoyed visiting the beer gardens (and other attractions around Munich of course!).
Ryan's 18th month 'Birthday' fell on a gloriously sunny Bank Holiday weekend, during which I walked 20 miles for Macmillan Cancer Support (not in torrential rain like last year and also without Ryan on my back this time) and spent a wonderfully, relaxing afternoon with my NCT antenatal friends. Other activities this month have included a 27 mile walk and a 35 mile cycle! So nice and relaxing then!!
Ryan absolutely LOVED his first fish and chips when Dad, Maggie, Ryan and myself spent a fantastic day in Brighton! The weather was (mostly) sunny and we found a brilliant play park right next to the beach. Ryan also loved watching the children on the fairground rides on the pier and of course being on the beach by the sea!
We had a fantastic week staying in Ambleside, the weather was good to us and I even had snow on my Birthday! Lots of it, very magical and Ryan and Bethany loved it too! Just a few mishaps that make us smile - Ryan receiving his very first snowball in the face from Uncle Robert (accident!) and having his glove thrown into Tarn Hows instead of the bread for the ducks (again Uncle Robert)! Bethany enjoyed a fantastic 2nd Birthday and three of us went on an amazing (if challenging) walk around Fairfield Horshoe!
We celebrated Amanda's 40th Birthday in style, staying in the best villa at Elveden Forest Centre Parcs and making the most of our very own hot tob and sauna! Lots of relaxing, playing in the pool, good food and exotic cocktails were the order of the weekend! Fantastic!
