My Father and I took the opportunity to do a lovely 8 mile walk after delivering Christmas presents. We walked from Hathersage up and along Stanage edge and back to Heathersage in the Peak District. The weather was perfect, sunny and clear and the scenery spectacular!
We had a fabulous day at The Good Food Show, held in the NEC Birmingham. This was my Birthday present to David! We watched several celebrity chefs in action, browsed the stalls and tasted to our hearts content!
We spent a wonderful 5 days in Menorca with our friends Ruth and Martin at a luxurious 4* hotel in Cala Santa Galdana. After a nerve-wracking start to the holiday, where we nearly missed our flights following several incidents getting to the airport we had a fabulous time! The weather was warm (24oC) and sunny, the scenery amazing and the sea very inviting, especially on a pedalo with a slide! Only one downside was that because it was the very end of season, everywhere was closing or closed, especially on our last evening, but I would highly reccomend our hotel, location and the whole island for a relaxing and fun holiday! Just watch out for those squirrels!
Sam and I walked two days of the South Downs Way, from Southease to Eastbourne. We had glorious weather and enjoyed a lovely meal in Alfriston where we stayed overnight. This was a real challenge for me, not the walking but carrying everything we needed for both the day and overnight in a small rucksack!
September 2005 - 5 day cycling holiday from Cork to Kerry in southern Ireland, with Zoe and Andy. We camped for most of the nights, our meals were served in a Big Top Tent, where they also had a bar for that pre-dinner aperitif! The weather was brilliant - sunny and quite warm, except for one day of torrential rain! The scenery was spectacular and the food and beer yummy!
August Bank Holiday weekend - Wendy, Janet, Heather and Judith stayed in Stratford-Upon-Avon for a girlie weekend. We saw 'As You Like It' by Shakespere (of course), did some shopping, ate cakes, sat and enjoyed the sunshine and of course drank cocktails!
Wendy and Zoe completed the London to Cambridge cycle ride in record time this year! We had a brilliant day, despite the rain! Zoe and I cycled the 50 mile route in 5 hours including all our breaks and rest stops!! So this is our fastest time yet at a speed greater than 10 miles/hour!!! We were zipping along, despite the hills, driving rain and head wind!! The thought of a refreshing pint (or three) of beer/cider at the end kept us going!! And we did indulge!!! Thank you very, very much for your sponsorship. Through your generosity, I raised £123.10 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer!!
